We have had the honour of hosting Ion Tiriac three times over the past few years. Ion is a Romanian businessman, previously Boris Becker's coach, a former professional tennis and ice hockey player. Join us as we reflect on his memorable hunts with Venator.

As the New Zealand hunting season comes to a close, we round up highlights from the past few of months. ‍We achieved three impressive red stags, all surpassing 900 SCI, along with several other noteworthy trophies below this size.

Last year, we had the honour of hosting hunter and conservationist, Mark Peterson during his second trip to New Zealand. Throughout his stay with us, Mark embarked on a quest to pursue the ultimate adventure: the New Zealand Game Bird Grand Slam, amongst other prized species.

Last year, we had the honour of hosting Dan Cabela, the son to Dick and Mary Cabela, who founded the world famous Cabela’s Outfitters. During his stay with us, Dan embarked on a quest to unravel the complexities of hunting in New Zealand and its role in conservation efforts - a subject that is close to our hearts.

In the world of hunting, the pursuit of records and legends often drives enthusiasts to seek out new and exciting challenges. The hunting of deer for sport and their prized trophy heads was the initial motivation for importing and releasing deer in New Zealand by the early colonial settlers from the United Kingdom. Between 1861 and 1919, more than 250 were brought to New Zealand directly from the UK or via Australia. This continued until 1926 with the majority coming from the great English Parks and from the Scottish Highlands.‍Of all the deer species (Cervidae family) introduced, red deer (Cervus elaphus) proved to be the most successful at assimilating into their new found environment of New Zealand.
